Hi I was very interested in this photo because I am writing a history of surfing in Opunake Taranaki. Apparently according to some old locals Mike came to Opunake in the late 1950s and had quite an influence with his surfing and a having a lighter more modern surfboard for the time. I'm pretty sure this is the Mike Gardener .
