Medlands Beach Surf Guide
Medlands Beach in Great Barrier Island is a fairly exposed beach break that has quite reliable surf and can work at any time of the year. The best wind direction is from the southwest. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the northeast. The beach break offers both left and right hand waves. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Hazards include rips, sharks.
