Unusual to have a clean long period north cyclone swell without much SW Southern Ocean swell. Excellent conditions with hollow lefts mid-beach. Set waves were a foot or two overhead and building but the waves were far apart and the there were lulls between the sets that made it easy to paddle back out. All in all, about as good at Wharariki ever gets but the SE breeze made it not quite perfect. Only me out but locals surfing Anatori way reported it was excellent there and dawn at Schnappers the next day was pushing double overhead and hollow. Unfortunately, by Monday late am, the swell had dropped to waist/shoulder high.
