Karioitahi Surf Guide
Karioitahi in Raglan and West Waikato is an exposed beach break that has unreliable waves with no particular seasonal pattern. Works best in offshore winds from the east. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the best swell direction is from the southwest. Waves at the beach break both left and right. Good surf at all stages of the tide. An uncrowded break, even when it is working. Dangerous rips are a hazard of surfing here.
