El Emir Surf Guide
El Emir in South Uruguay is an exposed beach and reef break that has pretty consistent surf. Autumn and winter are the optimum times of year for waves. Offshore winds are from the north northwest. Clean groundswells prevail and the best swell direction is from the south. Waves at the beach break both left and right. Often Crowded. Be careful when surfing close to the submerged wreck. "Best Swell for El Emir is East swell, or anything with an east component, south swells are blocked by a long rocky peninsula and don't get into the beach. South swells favour the near town of La Barra. El Emir is a beach break, but also a point break that breaks next to the shipwreck, a lefthander that can get hollow and powerful sometimes".....Gabriel
