Caves Beach Surf Guide
Caves Beach in Newcastle is an exposed beach and point break that has quite reliable surf. Autumn and winter are the best times of year for waves. Offshore winds are from the west. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the southeast. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights Surfable at all stages of the tide. It's sometimes crowded here. Beware of rocks and locals. Williamtown airport is the closest passenger airport, it is a 40 minute drive (more in peak times) from Caves Beach, most definitely no more than 70 Kms. Surf beach and the water is very rarely crowded.
