Started surfing Bawley Point (The Right on the north side of the point) in the early 1960's, no buildings on the point just a dirt track, long boards no leg ropes and have had my share of sea urchins spines in my feet, NO crowds. Will go to the grave with more than few fond memories of the waves I have had there.... I'm in my mid sixties now. As an aside, When they first subdivided the point in the early 1970's, the prime blocks on the front overlooking the Point sold for between $7,000 and $8,000.
