Maryland Surf Forecast map for predicting the best wave and wind conditions across the region. For surfers, the map shows the most powerful swell tracking across near-shore open water and not the peak waves experienced by boats out at sea. Move your mouse over the ocean swell symbols or the surf breaks on the coastline to see a more detailed surf forecast including wave period and wind conditions. The forecast updates every 6 hours and most live weather reports update every hour. You can animate the Maryland Surf map or show live wind and wave conditions as reported from wavebuoys and local weather stations. Surf breaks shown along the Maryland coastline are also listed below.

Maryland Surf Breaks

Similar to Delaware, Maryland's surf can be few and far between. With a broad continental shelf stretching out, the surf generally doesn't pack a punch and have enough power to create a consistent wave, although that doesn't mean that the coast is a stranger to good surf. Hurricane swells out of the Atlantic can stir up some excellent waves around the Ocean City area which is in general the most popular area to surf on the Maryland coast. If you're up for a bit of exploring, then grab yourself a 4WD and head down Assateague Island and bag yourself one of the many waves that frequent this part of Maryland. Crowds can be a problem in summer, but so can surf, with winter months being far the best time to surf.
