Whangamata Beach in Coromandel is a fairly exposed beach break that has reasonably consistent surf Offshore winds are from the southwest. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the northeast. The beach breaks are all lefts. Overcrowding can even make surfing hazardous.
