Possums Reef in Otago is an exposed reef break that does not work very often with no particular seasonal pattern. Offshore winds blow from the west. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the east northeast. A left hand reef. Best around high tide. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days. Hazards include sharks/rips.
