Porto Moniz in Madeira is an exposed reef break that has inconsistent surf. Autumn and winter are the best times of year for waves. Works best in offshore winds from the south. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the north northwest. A reef breaks left. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Beware of rocks, obstacles, locals and sharks.
