El Colegio in Tarapaca is an exposed reef break that is usually a safe bet. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds blow from the east northeast. Groundswells are more common than windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the south southwest. A right hand reef. Best around low tide. It very rarely gets crowded here. Beware of rocks and urchins.
