Dunbar/Belhaven Bay on the East Coast is a quite exposed beach and reef break that is usually a safe bet. Winter and spring are the favoured times of year to visit. Offshore winds blow from the west southwest. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the optimum swell angle is from the northeast. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Watch out for dangerous rips.
