Caravans on the West Coast is an exposed river break that has quite consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. The best wind direction is from the east. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the ideal swell direction is from the west. The river breaks favour rights. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Take care of rips and rocks.
