Caleta Loa in Tarapaca is an exposed beach break that has reliable surf. Winter is the optimum time of year for surfing here. Offshore winds blow from the east. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the south southwest. Waves at the beach break both left and right. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Dangerous rips are a hazard of surfing here.
