Big Rock in San Diego County is an exposed reef break that has very reliable surf. Summer offers the favoured conditions for surfing. The best wind direction is from the north. Tends to receive distant groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the southwest. Left and better right hand reef breaks.. Best around mid tide. Unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up. Hazards include rocks and locals.
